Bhimashankar is less accessible due to the steep descent of 200-300 steps to reach the temple, although palanquin services are offered for those who need help. Grishneshwar is more senior-friendly with fewer steps and easier access from the parking area, and assistance can be arranged. For all three, it’s best to visit during non-peak hours and confirm local support facilities in advance.

The best months to visit the Jyotirlingas in Maharashtra are from October to March. During this period, the weather is more pleasant and comfortable, with cooler temperatures and lower humidity, making it ideal for travel and temple visits. The summer months (April to June) can be quite hot, especially in regions like Bhimashankar and Aurangabad, which can make the journey and temple visits more challenging. The monsoon season (June to September) may also cause difficulties with travel due to heavy rainfall, especially on hilly terrain like Bhimashankar. Therefore, visiting between October and March offers the most favorable conditions for a smooth and enjoyable pilgrimage.

At each of the three Jyotirlingas, you’ll typically spend about 1 to 1.5 hours for darshan and pooja. At Trimbakeshwar, you can also visit Kushavarta Kund and nearby Anjneri Hills, adding 30 minutes to 1 hour to your visit. At Bhimashankar, after the temple visit, you can explore the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary for another 1-2 hours. In Grishneshwar, the temple visit takes about an hour, and nearby Ellora Caves can add 2-3 hours to your trip. In total, you’ll spend around 3-4 hours at each temple, with the possibility of extending your visit by exploring local attractions, making it a fulfilling day at each location.

For example, the drive from Nashik (Trimbakeshwar) to Bhimashankar takes around 5-6 hours (220 km), and from Bhimashankar to Grishneshwar (Aurangabad) takes about 6-7 hours (250 km). The journey can be comfortable if you travel by private car or hire a taxi, though some roads, especially near hilly areas like Bhimashankar, may be winding. While the roads are generally good, the drive can be tiring, so it’s advisable to take breaks for rest and refreshments along the way.
